'Alcohol is killing us': Banned drinkers register on the cards for the North West
Newman's Aboriginal Males Healing Centre founder and chief executive Devon Cuimara called for greater investment in rehabilitation centres.
"This is another social experiment," Mr Cuimara said.
"The drinkers need to have access to 12-step processes, all those different therapeutic settings that are conducive to their wellbeing on a daily basis, not just go cold turkey.
"What's stopping those people in the Pilbara region leaving and going to Perth where there's no restrictions?"
